Samsung and Verizon announced the availability of the Samsung SCH-u650 Sway on Verizon’s network. The Sway is a slim silver slider style handset with a 2.2″ 262k color display, and it features a 2 megapixel digital camera as well as a music player that is compatible with regular MP3 files and Verizon’s V CAST Music Rhapsody service (which requires a PC for loading music).
Other features of note on the Samsung Sway include mobile instant messaging support, the ability to send both text and picture messages, and Bluetooth wireless capability. The Bluetooth system includes the A2DP stereo profile, which means that users can enjoy the music they have loaded on the Sway without the normal tangle of wires by using a set of Bluetooth headphones (not included). Lastly, the Sway supports microSD memory cards for additional storage room. Verizon claims that the device is compatible with cards as large as 8GB in capacity.
The u650 Sway measures up at 105.4mm x 49.8mm x 12.0mm (4.15″ x 1.96″ x 0.47″) in size and weighs 101g (3.6oz). Samsung claims that the Sway’s battery should be good for up to 4.5 hours of talk time or 13 days of standby time.
The Samsung SCH-u650 Sway phone is available online from Verizon Wireless October 6th for US$69.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, when purchased with a two-year agreement. It will be available in Verizon Wireless retail stores on October 14th.

Verizon Wireless has announced the Motorola VU204, a new clamshell cell phone that is slated for October 14th availability. The VU204 packs a VGA-resolution camera and up to 64MB of internal storage for photos. The rounded edges of this cell phone should make it easy to slip into your pocket when it’s time to hit the road.
The Motorola VU204 features built-in A-GPS support for Verizon’s VZ Navigator service, as well as Bluetooth support for convenient wireless handsfree headsets. The VU204 should offer you over 2 weeks of standby time thanks to its large battery, as well.
The Motorola VU204 is available online now and priced at $29.99 after a 2-year commitment and $50 mail-in rebate.

Sony Ericsson has launched its new HCB-108 Bluetooth speakerphone today, which offers consumers a wireless, handsfree calling solution. This small speakerphone claims a ground breaking 25 hours of talk time, and a month of standby time before needing a charge.
Measuring only 119mm x 61mm x 14mm (4.7″ x 2.4″ x .6″), the Sony Ericsson HCB-108 includes a handy visor mount, so you can quickly and easily mount it in whatever vehicle you happen to be driving. This Bluetooth speakerphone is set to be available in Q4 in your choice of black or silver. Pricing information has not yet been announced.
The Sony Ericsson TM506 marks two firsts for T-Mobile in the first HSDPA capable device for the carrier’s nascent 3G network, and the first Sony Ericsson phone since the venerable and popular T610 in 2004.
The phone features a QVGA internal display, quadband GSM/EDGE access and dual-band W-CDMA access with HSDPA support, Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo audio support, GPS support through T-Mobile’s branded TeleNav Navigator service, MemoryStick M2 expansion slot, RSS reader, WAP browser, speakerphone, and 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder.

Designed for portability and extreme ease-of-use, Samsung’s new Knack flip phone is now available on Verizon. Among some new features, are dedicated 911and ICE (In Case of Emergency) keys, a large contoured keypad, and an adequate 220 x 176 display.
The new flip phone offers the following: dual-band CDMA 1X connectivity (800 / 1900 MHz), a 2.2 inch TFT internal display with 176 x 220 pixels and 65K colors, a 96 x 96 pixel external display, a user friendly interface with support for both English and Spanish, an Adjustable Font Size option, three hot keys (for speakerphone / voice commands, 911 and ICE), advanced speech recognition, hearing aid compatibility, TTY capabilities, calculator, alarm clock, world clock and stopwatch. These features make the handset perfect for senior mobile users, although Verizon didn’t present it as targeting this category of customers.
The Knack is available as of today on Verizon’s website, and will be available in stores starting October 14th for a two-year contract price of $39.99.
