Palm Eos coming in October, or next year, or some other time, or never

Two months post-launch, the Pre remains the only official game in town for webOS, but we all know how Palm rolls — there are unquestionably other phones in the pipeline, and they’re going to be available on a variety of carriers. By all accounts, the so-called Eos (or Pixie, if internal codenames are more your thing) for AT&T is going to be the next model to come out of the chute, and now that we’ve all gotten bored with our Pres, the world seems to be turning its attention to more pressing matters like a release date. To that point, we’re dealing with two ends of the spectrum right now: at one extreme, Digital Daily cites a Morgan Joseph analysts as saying he believes the Eos will hit AT&T at some point beyond the holidays, thanks in part to the $99 iPhone’s continued strength. On the other end, China’s Commerical Times says an HSPA-powered version of the Eos will rock a 2.6-inch display and start volume deliveries from ODM Compal to Palm in October of this year with a CDMA variant following on in the first quarter of next year. Ultimately, both reports have the reassuring solidity of Jell-O — so what have we learned? The Eos (or whatever it’s called) will ship when it ships.

HTC Click gets pictured again, this time with better bokeh

Dare we call this new shot of HTC’s alleged Click almost… artistic? It’s a great picture, almost ripe for an official press release — but as far as we can tell, there’s nothing official about it. The phone, which is said to be bringing Android to a new, cheaper target demo the same way the Touch Viva did for WinMo, has popped up on a Vietnamese message board — it’s not on, unfortunately, but you can clearly make out the presence of enough Android-required buttons to deduce that there’s some Google code under the hood here. We still can’t decide how usable that giant nav pad is going to be, but hopefully, we have a chance to find out for ourselves sooner rather than later — we’re obviously not visiting Vietnam enough.

[Thanks, vuhai]

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 shows up again, this time in silver

Reaction to the rumored X2 pictures leaked this far has been lukewarm at best, but hold up — it’s looking a whole lot different (and arguably better) in silver. We can certainly buy that this is dead-on real, since… well, it looks real, and also because the X1’s also available in both shades. We’re still not convinced it outshines its predecessor for sheer sex appeal, but an 8.1 megapixel camera upgrade is hard to argue with, isn’t it? Anyhow, with this many units seemingly floating around in the wild, let’s hope we’re not too far off from an official announcement.

Another Palm Pre in the wild, this time with video

Because most Pres caught outside Palm’s near-clinical demo environments have been doing next to nothing so far, even the faintest hint of actual user interaction on video or in pictures is still interesting at this point. On that note, we present a mister “Doc31″ from PreCentral’s forums, whose fame, fortune, clout, or pure happenstance appears to have landed him some hands-on time with the most buzzworthy device of the moment. On video, the dude’s managed to capture a fleeting moment with the Palm Profile screen new users see, where you’ll enter all the requisite information necessary to get the phone syncing with the cloud. Even better, there’s not a hint of Mr. Blurrycam in any of the accompanying photos, which is always a win in our book. You know what would be an even bigger win, though? Our own Pre. Follow the break for video!
